Steve Stravolo, CPA, PFS

Steve Stravolo grew up in Spartanburg, SC, where he graduated from Wofford College in 1990 with a major in accounting. Then, he attended the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC and graduated with a Master of Accountancy. Steve became a CPA in 1993 while working for the international accounting firm, Ernst & Young.  In 1994, Steve and his wife Kim (also a CPA) founded the CPA firm Stravolo & Company, P.A. in Spartanburg, SC.  They owned and operated their CPA firm for 16 years, providing tax planning and preparation services to individuals and businesses along with accounting and business advisory services.

In 2002, Steve founded Stravolo Wealth Management to provide the clients of their CPA firm access to comprehensive financial planning and investment management.  In 2010, Steve and Kim sold their CPA firm so that Steve could focus 100% of his time on his wealth management clients.  As CEO of the firm, his responsibilities include overseeing the investment function along with the financial planning function of the firm, meeting with clients, growing the practice and developing the team. 

In March 2013, Steve obtained his Personal Financial Specialist (“PFS”) designation. The PFS program allows CPAs to gain and demonstrate competence and confidence in providing estate, tax, retirement, risk management and/or investment planning advice to individuals, families and business owners through experience, education, examination, and a resulting credential. It is the only comprehensive financial planning credential that is exclusive to CPAs. 

As a CPA and a financial advisor, Steve has a fiduciary duty to act in his client’s best interests.

Steve and Kim reside in Greenville, SC.  They have two sons and two daughters and remain active throughout their community.

Steve is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants ("AICPA"), the AICPA Personal Financial Planning Division, the South Carolina Association of CPAs ("SCACPA"), the Estate Planning Council of Spartanburg, and Leadership Spartanburg Alumni Association.  He is past chair of the board of directors of PAL in Spartanburg, SC. 

Steve stays active riding his mountain bike, playing golf, and weightlifting. Steve and Kim are graduates of Offshore Sailing School and enjoy chartering catamarans with friends and family in the US and British Virgin Islands.  They also relax with their family, visiting the beautiful South Carolina coast and hiking in the mountains of western North Carolina.
